Struggling With Sin

Devotional
Like the apostle Paul, every person struggles with sin in their lives. In Romans 7:18 Paul wrote “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” (ESV) As long as we still live and breath, we will have this struggle going on inside of us. It is only when we leave this world, that we will be made perfect and cleansed by the blood of the Lamb.

Are You Without Sin?

Devotional
Can a person be a Christian if they claim to be without sin? Often times people will try to hide or even deny their sin from the Lord and those who are around them. We are told in 1st John 1:8 “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
(ESV) The truth is, being a Christian doesn’t mean that we are without sin, but that we are forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ.

Repent and Believe

Devotional
As Christians, why do we find it so hard to share our faith with others? Perhaps it is because the message of salvation is not been preached from the pulpits of many churches today. Unfortunately we have too many churches that are preaching a social message that is void of repentance and the Good News. The message is simple. In Mark 1:15 we are told “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”  (NLT)

Standing In the Gap

Devotional
As Christians, we need to pray for our families, churches and our nation if we want to see revival. The Lord sought one man who would stand in the gap for the land and found none. Revival starts with each of us as individuals getting down on our knees and seeking the Lord with our whole heart. Will you stand in the gap?

Scripture Reference
Ezekiel 22:30
“So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.

Action Point
As Christians, we need to seek God’s provision and protection for those around us. We need to be the one who will stand in the gap.

Bringing the Light

Devotional
As a Christian, you need to let the light of Jesus shine in and through your life so that all can see. Being a Christian is not about going to church, but about being the church. We are called to bring the light of Jesus to the world, and in order to do that we need to step outside the four walls and be a wittiness for all to see.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 5:16
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Action Point
Growing up our pastor would close the worship service by reminding us that the real service began when we walked outside the doors of the church. It is only then that we can reach others for Jesus Christ.

Submit to God

Devotional
As Christians, we often face attacks from the devil. The truth is that none of us are immune to his fiery darts, but there is one way the scriptures tell us that we can stand firm against the devil. We are told that if we submit to God, the devil will flee from us. If we are grounded in our relationship with God, then the devil will have no opportunity to get a foothold.

Scripture Reference
James 4:7
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Action Point
Remember that the greatest way to defeat the devil is to turn towards God and submit to Him in all areas of your life. It is only then that the devil will flee from you.

As Far as the East is from the West

Devotional
This past week on our vacation we went to the place where the railroads met from the East and the West. Though they met at a single point, if you go out from that point, there is no end. you can keep on going east and west forever. The greatest part of Gods love is that He has removed our transgressions as far as the east is from the west.

Scripture Reference
Psalm 103:12
as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

Action Point
As Christians, we need to remember that we are forgiven. He has cast our sins so far that they would never again be brought up again. They are completely forgiven, never to be brought up again.

A Mothers Influence

Devotional
As Christians we need to model our faith at home and in our lives. As we live out our faith, we are setting an example for others to follow. With our words we speak of our faith, but our actions will show people our faith. Our children learn more from what they see than what we say. If we have a strong faith, then they will also. If our faith is week, they will see that as well.

Scripture Reference
2nd Timothy 1:5
when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.

Action Point
The greatest gift that we can leave for our children is a strong and sincere faith in Jesus Christ. We can leave them money, possessions, and things, but one day they will all be gone. The gift of faith will last an eternity.

Reaching Out to Jesus

Devotional
Why do many people reach out to Jesus only after they have tried everything else? If only everyone had the faith to reach out to Jesus like the woman with the flow of blood did. There was no doubt in her mind. She knew she would be healed the moment she touched the hem of His garment. She reached out in faith, and she was made whole.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 9:21
For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”

Action Point
The women was unclean until the moment that she reached out in faith. The moment that she touched the hem of His garment, she was cleansed, and made whole. Reach out to Jesus in faith today.

The Power of Motherhood

Devotional
Mothers have a lot of power in the words they speak. It is their words that shape young lives and lift them up. Their words of wisdom can teach a young mind and their words of love can melt away the slightest hint of discouragement. It is a simple word of encouragement can make a difference that will last a lifetime.

Scripture Reference
Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Action Point
Make a difference with your words. Take the time to encourage, teach, and to love your children. Be the catalyst that God uses to transform the lives of the younger generation.
