Be Filled with the Holy Spirit

Be Filled with the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 5:18
Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit

Isn’t it interesting that Apostle Paul uses such a contrast. Instead of being drink with wine, be filled with the Holy Spirit. It is as if they are being seen as opposites. Drunk with or ‘drunk’ with the Holy Spirit. In other words be overcome with the Holy Spirit. He was speaking to Christians who obviously were born again and thus had the Holy Spirit living in them. Thus there must be the ability to have more of the Holy Spirit. To have an abundance of the Holy Spirit. Continue reading “Be Filled with the Holy Spirit” »

Endued with the Spirit of the Prophets

spirit prophets holy spirit

Endued with the Spirit of the Prophets

Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Deborah, Elijah and Elisha–all these names inspire awe and wonder, but they were human with passions like you and I (James 5: 17). In other words they may have had different giftings and callings than us but they were mere men and women used by God.

The same Spirit that was upon them is in us. We did not receive a second-rate Spirit or experience, and we should not expect a second-rate result. The baptism in the spirit endues believers with the Spirit of the prophets. When the prophets experienced God supernaturally, they called it the Spirit of the prophets.

Electric Cable

Electric Cable

We may look ordinary, innocuous or inconsequential, but make no mistake, we are full of power–the power of the Holy Spirit–and we are vital to God’s redemptive plan. Christians may look tame, but so does an electric cable—until you touch it.
Reinhard Bonnke

Bonnke mentions in this chapter that when electricity was first discovered most people just seen it as a novelty. They could not conceive of electricity lighting entire cities. They had not concept of the power that run through electric cables.

Receive Power Exuberance

Receive Power Exuberance

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Without power we have  a powerless, ineffective religion. As Christians we are called to make a difference in this world. We need power to conquer the power of darkness.

Power for Marathon 2

Power for Marathon

We don’t earn the baptism of the Holy Spirit, or the anointing of God, like someone who receives an Olympic Gold Medal based upon their hard work and skill. It is received by faith. We don’t deserve it by our good works or because we are worthy. it is not some kind of reward for ‘good’ Christians. It is not some kind of trophy someone gets for winning a marathon.

The Omnipotent Holy Spirit 2

Omnipotent Holy Spirit Works Through Us

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Jesus Christ, God. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity.  He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. We do not reinforce the Holy Spirit by prayer–He is omnipotent without our help. Yet Scripture says that we should pray in the Spirit (Ephesians 6: 18).

No Substitute for the Holy Spirit 2

no substitute for holy spirit

No Substitute for the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit has no substitute. He is the life in the preacher and the power in the sermon, the divine magnet that attracts souls to the Church. The Spirit of God is His own advertiser; if we will let Him take His place in the Church and build it, the gates of hell will not prevail against it. We will see growth. THE LESS HOLY SPIRIT OPERATION WE HAVE, THE MORE CAKE and coffee we need to keep the church going. Nothing against coffee or cake, but the truth remains that the Holy Spirit has no substitute.

Whole World for Jesus 2

Whole World for Jesus

It is clear that the Great Commission is to bring Jesus to the entire world:
Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
18  And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20  teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Every single Christian should would to participate in the Great Commission. Not because it is a command but because SOULS MATTER.

See Jesus in Your Eyes 2

See Jesus in Your Eyes

When you become born again the Holy Spirit resides in you and He wants to move in your life in a powerful manner. He wants to reveal His glory through your life. In order for this to take place you need to surrender your tongue, body, mind, will, and your eyes.

The Holy Spirit wants to connect with every member of your being and with every faculty of your soul. Surrender–your tongue, your body, your mind, your will and even your eyes–and people will see Him in you.

Public or Private? 2

public not private faith

Public or Private?

There are Christians who appear to be ashamed of their faith in Jesus Christ. They appear to be ashamed to speak on what Jesus did in their life. Truth is, all of us can be shy at times in regard to our relationship with Jesus Christ. Some say it is a private matter. But if you read the Bible you realize it is not meant to just be a private matter.

Romans 1:16-17 (ESV)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
