Will we do what it says to become a Godly Employee, Godly Neighbor, Godly Sibling, Godly Grandparent, Godly Parent, a Righteous Church, BE LIKE JESUS? Continue reading “Press On Toward the Goal” »

The youth have no desire to read the Bible or anything to do with spirituality. (Sadly this true for many young people today.) The youth pastor refuses to compromise or to use entertainment to win the youth. He makes a commitment to continuously teach Bible principles, share stories to help make the Bible real, and to cry out to God. Some amazing transformations take place in the midst of various challenges. Anyone who watches the movie, regardless of their spiritual background, will be touched by this movie. Come Awake 2

Come Awake

Many people are living in darkness. Some in total darkness, others bounce between darkness and light. Sadly there are Christians who have the Holy Spirit living within them but still respond to the temptations of Jesus and allow Him to control them. It is to WAKE UP. Be aware of who you are in Christ and say “Devil no more!”. Those who learn how to worship Jesus in spite of their circumstances are able to walk in victory. We can live overcoming lives and be led by the Holy Spirit. Continue reading “Come Awake” »

Unplanned-the Movie

Unplanned is the true story of Abby Johnson who became the youngest clinic director in the history of Planned Parenthood, then a life-changing experience turns her into an anti-abortion activist. Abby receives a Planned Parenthood director of the year award, but later is outspoken about the tactics of Planned Parenthood. What changed???????

“My story isn’t an easy one to hear. I think I probably ought to warn you of that up front.” Those words introduce us to Abby Johnson in Unplanned, which tells the true story of how this former Planned Parenthood clinic director changed her mind about abortion. Indeed, her story isn’t easy to watch. But it forces viewers to confront the reality of abortion from an unexpected viewpoint.

Any human being, whether they are pro-choice or pro-life, cannot watch this movie and not be touched by this true story. Only a person with a very cold heart will not be moved by this movie.

Don’t Abandon the Bible
Play the Flute Movie

In today’s society, many, if not most, young people have no interest in the Bible or the things of God. Many young people today actually have a disdain for the Bible. In their minds the Bible has no relevancy, it is an outdated book.

So what happens? Many church youth group leaders are abandoning the Bible. They have gone to food, entertainment, and fun to capture youth, and have to continually increase the food, entertainment, and fun to keep the youth involved. Yes, they have a large youth group, but their is no substance.

God is a Consuming Fire 1

God is a Consuming Fire

Hebrews 12:25-29 (ESV)
25  See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.
26  At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”
27  This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain.
28  Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,
29  for our God is a consuming fire.

What Fire Burns in You?

what fire burns in you

What Fire Burns in You?

For many it is the fire of sin and the fire of worldly passion. Seeking the things of this world with a fervency. If you are a Christian this is a question that you must absolutely ask yourself. You are obligated to ask yourself. If you don’t you will most likely be a carnal Christian. A Christian that seeks the pleasures of this world rather than seeking the fire of God to purge the world out of you.

SODC-Mother’s Day Breakfast

happy mothers day

Seattle Open Door Church Mother’s Day Breakfast 2018

At Seattle Open Door Church for Mother’s Day we had women from 6 years old to around 85 years old.
We had women from a variety of nationalities, socioeconomic levels, women who have been addicts for most of their life, even up to a few days ago, and women who have been abstinent for decades and decades and decades. Single moms, married, widowed, never had children, to women who have great great grandchildren.

mothers-precious-cooks-sodcAs a church we have as our vision to Love God, Love People, Love Life. We believe if you love God, you will love people, and if you love God and People you will love life. We like to say “Our Doors are Open to Whomsoever”. Everything we do as church is based upon these principles. sodc mother day

Throughout Seattle there are White churches, Black churches. Churches for the rich and famous and churches for the lowly. Churches for the oldies and churches for the millennials.  We don’t always do a good job but we do whatever we can to be a church for all people, saved or lost. It is our desire to have the rich and the homeless sitting on the same pew. The person who has never touched alcohol sitting next to the person who has is still struggling with addiction. Then we have fulfilled our vision. On Mother’s Day we got closer to fulfilling our goals.

Our next event will be a Men’s Retreat in June. One more event to have a chance to walk out our vision. It will be a time for Real People to Seek God and Love Life. No masks required. Then in August we will will be sponsoring young people to attend Youth Camp.
