Be a Compost Christian

You say what is a compost Christian. Before we answer that, what is compost? Compost is organic matter that has been decomposed in a process called composting. This process recycles various organic materials otherwise regarded as waste products and produces compost. it is made up of food scraps, grass clippings, leaves and other organic matter. There are certain items that should never be in compost. These items are mainly meat, fish, and dairy products.

To gardeners, compost is considered “black gold” because of its many benefits in the garden.

So what do I mean by compost Christians. God wants you and I (organic material) to be rich in His nutrients to the point that we are beneficial to this world of darkness.

Salt and Light
Matthew 5:13-14 (ESV)
13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Philippians 2:14-15 (NLT2)
14 Do everything without complaining and arguing,
15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
God wants us to filled with the love of Christ so that we can walk in His fullness and thus pour out His love into the world.

Ephesians 3:14-19 (ESV)
14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
So what are the nutrients that make us a Compost Christian that brings light in the midst of the darkness and brings the love of God in a world of hate?

Fruit of the Spirit
Galatians 5:22-24 (ESV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control;
Another nutrient is to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Filled with the Holy Spirit
Ephesians 5:18 (ESV)
18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

We need to be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Consumed, overwhelmed, immersed in the Holy Spirit. We should be so full of the Holy Spirit, that He overflows from us to others.
If we are baptized with the Holy Spirit we ill certainly walk in the fruit of the spirit.
So we should be rich in Nutrients. Nutrients like Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Compost Christians
Think about it. What would the world be like if all Christians were compost Christians? Families would be different, the workplace would be different, our communities would be different, the political circus would instead be replaced with godly leadership. Our world would be transformed.
Be Used by God
What good is soil compost if it is not put into the garden bed? It is of no use. If you are a compost Christian you will be willing to be a vessel used by God. The greatest vessel you can be is an ambassador for Christ.

Ministers of Reconciliation/Ambassadors for Christ
2 Corinthians 5:16-21 (ESV)
16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
What stops us from being ambassadors, stops us from being a Compost Christian? Sin
Romans 6:12-14 (ESV)
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions.
13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
So if we let sin reign in our life we certainly will not be instruments of righteousness and thus there will not be godly nutrients flow out of us but garbage instead. Remember when we described compost that there were certain items that need to go to the garbage bin not the compost bin

Not Compost-Garbage
Galatians 5:19-24 (ESV)
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Other items that need to go in our life.
Unforgiveness, bitterness, resentments, holding unto the wounds of the past, pride (thinking you are a better compost Christian.)

Do you want to be full of nutrients that brings life to others or do you want to be full of things that belong in the dump? Repent, seek God to fill you up.
Need Jesus as your Savior or you will go to Gehenna, hell. Gehenna was a dump area where garbage was continuously being burned up. Do you want hell or heaven, the choice is yours.
