The Lord is My Keeper
As I was driving early in the morning, I encountered on the road three dead skunks, three dead possums, garbage bag in the road, and a deer jumped right in front of me. Praise God I did not hit anything. Right after this, Pastor David Jeremiah came on the radio and shared Psalm 121:5-8. No one can tell me that Almighty God is not a personal God. It is unfathomable to me to believe that this was all coincidental. (I like the definition one pastor gave for the word coincidental-‘when God does something and we do not give Him credit for it’.)
5 The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.
BTW, the phrase the moon will not strike you my night, may not make sense. Dr. Jeremiah explained it this way:
People in Old Testament times had a superstition regarding the moon, that it could actually harm you. God was addressing their superstition. Interestingly lunar is the word for moon. and we have the word lunatic.
Thank God He is watching over me. Oh BTW, if I had hit the deer, God allowed it to happen. The worse that could have happened is I die and enter into eternity earlier. So no evil can harm me no matter what, but I am thankful that God preserves my going out and my coming in.
