Change and Deception

The reason some people do not change is that they are deceived. They are deceived into thinking they do not need to change. The deception normally comes from believing a lie long enough that are deceived into believing it is true. Or by having open doors in their life (willful sin) that opens them up to deception by Satan. Either way, the deception comes because the person is not willing to walk in truth.

A person who is walking in deception rarely changes. Why? Because they are deceived into thinking they do not need to change. So, even though they encounter all kinds of trials, tribulations, consequences because of their deception, they continue doing the same things. Unless the deception is dealt with, there will be no change in their life. Continue reading “Change and Deception” »

Do any of our readers need some changes in their life? Of course. If we are honest, everyone of us have need to make some changes in our life. So, the question is not if we need to change. The question is are we willing to change? Are we willing to go through the process of change? Are we willing to pay the ‘price’ to change? Is changing for the better more important to us than staying the same way?

Here is a reality. Most people do not change much. As yourself, how different are you from 10 years ago? Do you have the same flaws as you had 10 years ago? Yes, there may have been many changes in your life, but are some of the same flaws there? Yes, maybe you became a Christian 10 years ago and there have been some drastic changes in your life, but some of the flaws of the past are still there.

Walking in Victory-Why Not?

According to the recent poll on our blog, 11% of those taking the poll state they are not walking in victory. Because this is a Christian blog site, I would assume that most if not all of these people are Christians. So, let’s explore what may be going on in their life.

First, maybe their concept of victory is distorted. What do I mean by that comment? Maybe they think that victory means never sinning or making mistakes. Or that if they encounter obstacles, trials, or tribulations they must not be living a victorious life. If this is the case then none of us are living a victorious life. Most likely that is not their definition of a Christian walking in victory. Probably what the scenario is for these individuals is that they feel overwhelmed by the ‘sin that so easily entangles them’.

Hebrews 12:1 (NASB95)
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

Friendship or Relationship

There is someone I have been working with as a mentor for many years. They have some great qualities but they also have one major issue-getting too close to the opposite sex. I thought about this as I have been doing a study on grace. Their argument over and over again when I try to help them to not fall into sin is that I am too legalistic, too demanding, expecting too much, etc. Besides ‘there is grace’.

Because of their past history the agreement has been they will not get into any relationship for some time until they get the victory over the sin they fall into. Our latest go around is over a new relationship they are in. They have been trying to tell me that it is just a friendship, not a relationship.  I should be more gracious. In God’s eyes their ‘friendship’ is ok. Besides, ‘God brought this person into their life’.
