“That’s Why That Happened!”

Dear Readers,

Have you ever found yourself saying those words?  Many times in our lifetime we question unexpected events.  Then months or even years later we will experience the answer…

“THAT’S WHY THAT HAPPENED!”

For over 43 years of questioning everything the Lord tells me or throws at me, I finally realized, “How else is He supposed to show me the path HE has for me!”

Only after lots of tears, much time, and even shouting at Him in prayers of discouragement, did I start to realize, “That’s why that happened!”

Often in our prayers we question every change in our life as to why God allowed something to happen, or put us in a time, place, or position that we had no desire to go in, and we wonder, “Why Lord, why is this happening?  Why Lord am I sick or why Lord did I lose my home, my job, my mate, my whatever!  Then days or months or even years later it will occur to us, “THAT’S WHY!”  Suddenly we realize our precious all knowing God, allowed us to go in this direction.  It was His plan, that’s why!

If God is in control of everything in life, Him and only Him can guide us to where HE wants us to be!

I personally gave him control immediately after getting saved over forty years ago.  Never did I ever believe He would make so many changes in my life!  Here’s an example…

One day as I drove into my yard in my school bus, I clearly heard these words in my head,  “Go over and talk to Richie and ask him if they are hiring any full-time drivers at the city bus company!”  My neighbor was sitting out on his front porch and had been employed at the company for over 30 years.  At the time, I was a part-time school bus driver and my husband had been out of work for over a year.  It was during the recession of the early 90’s and I wanted no part of driving a city bus!  But still, I crossed the street and spoke to Richard asking if they were doing any hiring at the WRTA!  He said, “Yes, two positions have just opened up!  They haven’t hired anyone in two years!  If you run down now, I will call in a reference immediately for you!”

Having such an excellent reference from a 30 year veteran, the company interviewed me immediately and hired me the next day!

I drove that city bus for only a few years until a dispatcher/inspector position came open.  When the bid came up to refill it, I won the bid becoming the first full-time woman in that department of six inspector/dispatchers!  I received the largest pay hike in the shortest employment time in the history of the bus company, starting in that position at over $26 an hour.  A lot of money in the 1990’s!  The realization of “THAT’S WHY THAT HAPPENED!” came to me years later.  It finally dawned on me, God was providing our family enough income to survive.

Eleven years passed and I discovered I had breast cancer, which meant two surgeries and radiation treatment.  This time again I wondered,  “Why Lord?  Why is this happening now?”  It finally dawned on me half way through my treatments, that God was allowing this to happen so I could take an early retirement at 60 years old, and also be able to collect disability and my pension as well.  HE WAS STILL TAKING CARE OF EVERYTHING!

In summation, here are a few more miracles He has done over the years that I wouldn’t have believed, or always wondered “Why Lord,”

  1. Gave me a third child, (pregnancy was difficult for me.)
  2. Gave us a larger home to fit our family.
  3. Relocated me and my family to Missouri for retirement, and so much more.

God is good all the time!  Listen to Him when He speaks to you, even if what you hear sounds crazy in your mind!  We never know what the Lord has in store for us.  The “THAT’S WHY” answer always becomes obvious much later than the event!

We tend to be strong willed people here in the U.S.A.!  Giving up control is not in our nature!  So, God takes it from us when He needs to, just to get our attention and get us back on His track for our lives.  Oh yes, we continue to question Him and ask, “Why Lord?”  But the “That’s Why” answer only comes to us on His time, not our time.

I suspect it will always be that way!

Love in Christ,   Claire  xoxo
