Good Friends

Hello Readers,

Sorry I haven’t written for a month.  We have been away on vacation.  It was hectic and wonderful at the same time.  We planned a trip for two weeks, first to Myrtle Beach (family visit), then a second week in Florida (friends visit), then home.

The day after arriving in M.B. my brother-in-law had a heart attack and ended up in surgery with a quadruple bypass.  We spent a few more days with them trying to help, but as their children arrived one by one, we decided to release their spare bedroom and leave early to go to the Florida part of our trip, giving the children space to care for their parents, and we would return after a week or so.  My big sis would need our help more later, as the kids returned home to work and families.  Being retired we could take a couple extra weeks to help my sister and hubby get on their feet.

We arrived in Florida exhausted and our dear friends wined and dined us.  They took us to the ocean, the pool, the farmer’s market, the tennis court, a spring training baseball game (Red Sox-Tampa Bay Rays), and then in the evenings they fed us the most incredible meals and played pitch with us night after night.  We went from being fatiqued, to relaxed and laughing over every silly thing imaginable.

I’ll never forget one thing that Jackie said to me during our visit.  After witnessing to her every chance I had and telling her selfishly that I want her with me in heaven, she told me,  "I’m 2/3 of the way there, Claire!"

So now, teary-eyed I pray, "Lord I did my part.  Please bring my friend the rest of the way so we can spend eternity together."

They will never know in a million years what they did for us on that shocking trip.  My sweet friend told me, "God knew you needed a break," and she was so right.  I don’t think she has any idea how much I love her and her husband.

Thinking about them made us giggle all the way back to Myrtle Beach.  By the way, the Boston Red Sox lost to the Tampa Bay Rays in the 9th inning, 8 to 6, and I don’t even care.  What a gift from God good friends are.                              Love in Christ,      Claire    xoxo

A Quick Note

Dear Readers,

Please be patient with me.  We went away on vacation and had a family crisis.  My brother-in-law had a heart attack and ended up with open heart surgery.  We are still at their home helping my big sister get through this.  I will be home next week writing more of my "Letter Stories."

                              Love in Christ,         Claire    xoxo
