Impossible to please God?

Is pleasing God really impossible?, or can this be done in a simple way?

Why of course not! says one, I please God all the time! And how do you do that? I ask. Well, I go to church, I live by the Sermon on the Mount, the golden rule, and I follow the 10 commandments, the law! I am a moral person. Ah! But something is lacking here, for the Bible says Without faith it is impossible to please God, the Bible also says the law is not of faith.

How we relate to God is important, for all the saints, Old & New Testament relate to God through faith, for the scripture says The Just shall live by faith. Pleasing God is not based on our performance, that is, what we do. Instead it is based in whom we believe. Paul said for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. To please God is to put your trust in Him and Him alone for all things.

In Hebrews we read,

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. People say, “show me and I will believe” God says “Believe me and I will show you” Look at the patriarchs, Abraham, called by God to leave his home land, relatives, and move out to a place he knew nothing about. His people might have said, “Where are you going?” “I don’t know, God has called me! “ Which god, for in Ur we worship many gods” Noah was told to build an Ark. “Why?” “its going to rain” What’s rain?” says Noah “I will flood the earth” “What is a flood?” Abraham moved to the land of Canaan, Noah built an Ark. Think of the people watching Noah, mocking him for 120 years, and he rebutting them, because we read: And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth [person], a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; His faith condemned the world who would have none of it. The Philippian jailor said “What must I do to be saved?” Paul said Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. The crowed that followed Jesus after he fed them said “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. Faith is spiritual work, but it is that which pleases God. “My faith is weak” says one, ask him to increase it. “My situation is hard” he says, “Behold, I [am] the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? We sing “Oh for grace to trust him more” let that be our prayer. To put your complete trust in God whom you cannot see, instead of things or people we do see pleases God.

But I feel like I have failed in many ways. Indeed have not we all? Under the New Covenant our performance is of no importance to God. This is why man struggles attempting to please God, through rituals, religious ceremonies, and other things related to performance. It is unnecessary and WILL NOT please God. You please him by putting your faith and trust in him when nothing else will do. You cannot save yourself, Salvation is of the Lord! It was designed that way, so all the glory goes to God and not man. So if only he can save you, listen to Paul say Rom 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? If you can believe that, then you can please God.
